MHS NJROTC DRILL TEAM
Varsity Letter
The Drill Team Varsity Letter will be awarded to any cadet on a primary Drill Team. The primary Drill Teams are: Unarmed Drill Team, Drill Team with Arms, and Color Guard. The qualifications for the letter are set forth as follows: 1. The cadet must be an active member of the team for at least 12 team events that have been recorded in JUMS. 2. The cadet will have to have a silver star on their Drill Team or Color Guard ribbon. 3. The cadet must be recommended by the team commander. 4. They must fulfill all requirements to be on a Drill Team as set forth in the Drill Team contract. The letter will be a gold M with a navy blue trim. Letters will be handed out as they are earned by the cadets. A cadet may earn more than one letter. In this case, for every additional 12 events a gold bar will be awarded. Each Drill Team will have their own insignia that is placed on the letter. The insignia for UDT is crossed batons, the insignia for DTWA is crossed rifles, and the insignia for Color Guard is crossed flags. A cadet can have more than one Drill Team insignia if they have completed all the requirements above for more than one Drill Team. The jacket will not be provided by the unit. The letter will count on college applications as a varsity team letter. This letter is done through the unit only; the MHS Athletic Department will have no involvement with the Drill Team Letter. All letters must be approved by the SNSI before they are awarded to the cadet.
